Judge Shiela Turner McCall brings a record of public service and a wealth of experience to the bench of the Cleveland Municipal Court.

Educated in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Judge Turner McCall is a proud graduate of John Adams High School.  She continued her education by obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree from Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio in 1986.

Intrigued by the field of medicine, she contemplated a nursing career, but that all changed when she saw the movie The Accused in 1988.

“I watched the prosecutor mishandle a rape case that received national attention.  That was my calling to get involved,” she said.

At that point, Judge Turner McCall began her professional career as a social worker, initially with battered women, teen parents and seniors, an experience that increased her passion to become a prosecutor.   She attended law school and received her Juris Doctor degree from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 2003, while working full time and maintaining a healthy marriage and the birth of her son.

Judge Turner McCall became a practicing attorney in 2005 and entered public service, working as Victim Advocate with the Cuyahoga County Witness Victim Service Center, a Program Officer, with the Cuyahoga County Justice Affairs and the Director of Mediation for the City of Cleveland Law Department. She has also served as an Assistant Prosecutor for both the City of Cleveland (2005-2010) and the Cuyahoga County's Prosecutor's office (2010-2012), a period of time when she tried cases from minor traffic offenses all the way to murder.

Up until her election to the Cleveland Municipal Court on November 7, 2017, she served as a Magistrate for the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Juvenile Division.

Judge McCall is a member of various community organizations serving on various boards.  She is a member of the Black Women's Political Action Committee, the Cuyahoga Democratic Women's Caucus, the Norman S. Minor Bar Association and former Board members of the Alumni Board of Hiram College and the Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.) Foundation.

In addition to raising her now teenage son, Judge Turner McCall enjoys rollerblading, bicycling and going to movies.
