(Cleveland) – For the seventh year in a row, the judges on the Cleveland Municipal Court (www.cmcoh.org) have reelected the Honorable Ronald B. Adrine to the position of Administrative and Presiding Judge.

“This court has been my life for over 30 years.  For the most part, we’ve done an admirable job serving the public, but we can always do better.   Better record keeping for one, which can be achieved by embracing the newer technologies that are now available to us.  My goal is to get it done,” said Judge Adrine, who is responsible for overseeing the business and direction of the court.

Under Judge Adrine’s leadership, the court has activated, promoted and certified a number of programs designed to help people deal with the underlying problems that landed them in court in the first place. Such programs offer solutions to break a drug habit, get a drivers license back, or obtain a G.E.D. They also address the issues of veterans, mentally-challenged offenders, human trafficking and breaking the cycles of domestic violence and prostitution. For information those programs, go to: www.clevelandmunicipalcourt.org/judicial-services/court-programs-services

The Cleveland Municipal Court has jurisdiction in misdemeanor cases where the maximum sentence is one year in jail and a fine of not more than $1,000.  The Court also handles the initial stages of felony proceedings prior to trial.

A life-long resident of Cleveland, Judge Adrine was elected to the Cleveland Municipal Court in 1981 and was re-elected five times without opposition.  He has since become a nationally sought-after figure on the issue of domestic violence and he became a main player in the creation of the recently opened Family Justice Center in the Erieview Building.

Judge Adrine has been honored as a Distinguished Alumni of both Cleveland State University and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.  In 2000, he was awarded the Ohio Bar Medal by the Ohio State Bar Association, its highest honor, in recognition of his contributions to the profession and the community.
